About the Book

When sisters Charlotte and Jolene meet a small black pony with one bright blue eye, they do the friendliest thing they can think of: they share a pickle. He twirls right around and does a little dance. Then Mr. Pickles tells them his secret... every good deed makes a little magic.

With glowing pendants that shine brighter with every act of kindness, the girls set out to help their neighbors, their friends, and each other... and discover that the best wishes are the ones you give away.

Inspired by a true story, Magic Mr. Pickles is a read-aloud about two sisters, their good deeds, and a very real pony with a very magical eye.

Yes, Mr. Pickles is real.

Charlotte and Jolene aren't just characters... they're the author's daughters. And Mr. Pickles is their actual pony, blue eye and all. The adventures in this book started in real life... two little girls, one small pony, and a whole lot of shared pickles.

About the Author

Kiera Johnson

Kiera Johnson is a mom, writer, and lifelong animal lover. Magic Mr. Pickles, her first picture book, was inspired by watching her two daughters grow up alongside their pony... a small black gentleman with one pale blue eye and a taste for pickles. She wrote this story to celebrate the kind of magic kids make for themselves: the kind that comes from being good to each other.
